Savory butter, sweet sugar, light flour, rich milk and four fluffy, fresh eggs are whipped together for the batter of this luscious Lemon Cake. This tender and moist cake gets its dreamy flavor from grated lemon and a squeeze of lemon juice. And, after it bakes, frost your tasty cake with a mixture of creamy, decadent icing sugar and softened butter mixed with both lemon zest and juice.

This beautiful and bright lemon dessert is a perfect complement to a summer barbecue of grilled chicken and seafood or a special birthday celebration with friends.



– 250 Grams of softened butter
– 1 & a 1/3 Cup of sugar
– 2 Cups of self raising flour
– 4 Eggs
– 1/2 Teaspoon of baking powder
– Grind of a grated lemon but reserve about 2 teaspoons for the frosting
– Juice the lemon & add half now & half to the frosting
– 1/2 Cup of milk


– 100 Grams of softened butter
– Add lemon rind & lemon juice
– 1 Cup of icing sugar



1. Get a large mixing bowl and put in the softened butter, sugar, self raising flour, eggs, baking powder, grated lemon, lemon juice, and milk.
2. Get a mixer and mix it together on slow until well combined.
3. Get a baking tin, pour the mixture in, and shake it so it would flatten down.
4. Pre-heat your oven to 160 degrees Celsius or 320 degrees Fahrenheit and put the mixture for about 45 minutes to an hour.


5. Get a mixing bowl and put in the softened butter, lemon rind & lemon juice, and icing sugar. Mix it together until well combined.
6. Get the frosting and spread it on top of the cake.
